The book was compiled and published by the National Museum of Vietnamese Historyand the Conservation Center of Hue Ancient Capital. It is the outcome of the realization of the guideline of the Ministry of Culture and Information on "Archaeology going ahead" to facilitate the restoration and embellishment of vestiges within the Hue Ancient Capital.

It is the outcome of the realization of the guideline of the Ministry of Culture and Information on "Archaeology going ahead" to facilitate the restoration and embellishment of vestiges within the Hue Ancient Capital.

The book makes public the results of archaeological excavations at 7 sites: 3 in the Forbidden Purple Citadel, 3 in the Imperial Citadel and 1 in the Imperial Capital. The artifacts recovered in the excavations help to supplement new information to the studies on history, culture and daily life of the Nguyen Kings.
