Kim Lan is a commune of the left bank of the Red River, bolonging to the district of Gia Lam, suburb of Hanoi. From the center of Hanoi, one can arrive at Kim Lan by the road or by the river through the port of bark of Thuy Linh.

The “Son Lang Cam Dia” territory of the posterior Le

After the death of King Le Thai To (1433), the Court decided to bury him at Lam Son. Since then on, Lam Son becomes the place of burying of the kings and queens of the posterior Le. Thus, as the Ly have the village Dinh Bang/Bang forest (Bac Ninh), and the Tran have the region Tam Duong (Thai Binh), then Dong Trieu (Quang Ninh), Lam Son has become a “forbidden territory, reserved to royal tombs” of the Le.

The pagoda and the tower Sung Thien Dien Linh of the Ly

The pagoda Long Doi Son, famous in history with its tower Bao Thap Sung Thien Dien Linh, was constructed by King Ly Nhan Tong in the second year Thien Phu Due Vu (1121). The site is situated on the top of the hill Doi, one of the remaining hills of the south of Hanoi, belonging to the hamlet Doi Nhi, commune of Doi Son, district of Duy Tien (Hanam).

Before the excavation, the site of the palaces Ta Vu and Huu Vu is two rectangular earth portions, rather flat, about 1m higher than the yard of dragons. Toward 1996, 1997, this site underwent an exploration excavation to prepare for an excavation of large extent in 2004, at a depth of 0,2m to 1,2m, which discovered many architectural planes with traces of reparations such as bordering of foundations, floors, pedestals of columns, foundation stones and column fortifications.
