ICOM (International Council Of Museums, Conseil International Des Musees) is the international organisation of museums and museum professionals which is committed to the conservation, continuation and communication to society of the world's natural and cultural heritage, present and future, tangible and intangible.

ICOM’s logo

Created in 1946, ICOM is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and as a not for profit organisation. From up to now, ICOM has 28,000 members in 137 countries, the National Museum of Vietnamese History is one of them. ICOM organized 21 times of General Conference. Each general conference has different theme, but they expressed the ICOM’s missions and aims.

The 22nd General Conference will run from 7 to 12 November 2010 in Shanghai, China, and will be attended by members of the museum community from all over the world. During the six days of the Conference, the theme of “Museums for Social Harmony” will be explored and debated in and around the numerous International Committee meetings, the Open Forum and other sessions.
