Addressing at the opening ceremony, Mr Yi Kun Moo, director of Korean National Museum stressed that this was the first time we had shown such a valuable exhibition, including a lot of items during historical periods, especially in Koryo Dynasty (918 – 1392).

This exhibition is the first result of the co-operation project between Korean National Museum and Vietnamese National History Museum. It has introduced more than 90 typical items of North Korea culture from prehistoric age to Choson Dynasty (1392-1910)

If stone instruments demonstrated the ancients’ appearance in Korea Peninsula, the appearance of ceramic not only showed the thought and the aestheticism of the ancients but also reflected the gap of society and the dawn agriculture in the middle of new – stone age in Korea Peninsula.

When excavated Tangun’s tome, the first king of Kojoson Dynasty (2333BC-108BC), some archaeologists demonstrated the existing of the first country in by physical documents that we have never seen before. A lot of typical items of this dynasty and others such as: Koguryo (37BC-668AD), Palhae (698-926) also were exhibited. Especially, a musical instrument in 2000 BC, made by bone of the bird, excavated in Sopo Port (north of Hamgyong), was attractive the visitors.


The exhibition also pays attention to Koryo Dynasty (918-1392), particularly Taejo Wang Kun’s statue (877-943). He founded this dynasty. This statue was found while excavating his tomb at Kaesong in Hwanghae province, north of Binh Nhuong. It is 1,38 meter high.

Most of the items in the exhibition were mainly borrowed from Binh Nhuong National history Museum.

Attending and speaking at the opening ceremony, there are Minister of Culture and Tourism Ministry Kim Myung Gon, head of General Department of Culture Heritage, Yoo Hong Joon, chairman of MBC Communications Corporation, Choi Moon Soon and the actor Choi Su Jong.

This exhibition is shown popularly at Korea National Museum from 13th, June to 16th, Aug, 2006. After that it will be introduced at Daegu National Museum from 28th, Aug to 26th, Oct, 2006.
