Cultural heritage is a valuable asset for every nation, its people and communities. The field of heritage conservation is broad and includes many perspectives, and this makes the protection and promotion of cultural values complex. In the general trend of integrating conservation at an international level, activities to protect and promote values have done much to highlight humanity’s achievements; however, various issues have also come to light in relation to viewpoints, perceptions, processes and implications.
To explore these questions, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Vietnam, in partnership with Southern Institute of Social Sciences and Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies, and under the patronage of ICCROM, is holding a conference on the “International Integration of Conservation: Opportunities and Challenges for Cultural Heritage Values”.
The conference will serve as a platform to connect individuals and organizations, and to form ideas and build international cooperation in the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage values.
1. Contents of the Conference
The conference will highlight the following key issues in relation to the conservation and promotion of heritage values:
- diversity of approaches in heritage conservation, crossing regions, countries and institutions;
- creative and sustainable development and responding to the global challenges of international integration;
- shaping mechanisms for cooperation and the formation of collaborative and sustainable approaches to addressing global challenges;
- building effective collaboration and international integration between heritage institutions (museums, archives, libraries, etc.);
- solutions for improving the efficiency of international integration and participation in international conventions;
- experiences of some countries/organizations in international integration.
2. Venue, Date and Time
Venue: Southern Institute of Social Sciences – 49 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Ben Nghe District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Date: the 30 November 2018 (whole day)
3. Submission of Papers
Each Paper should be 12 pages maximum, including title, author name, and address. We request an abstract of 200-250 words, including 3-5 keywords.
The Paper must be presented in English, in Times New Roman 12 pt font; left margin 3 cm, right margin 2 cm, bottom 2 cm.
Foreign language names and terms must be written in Latin characters.
All selected papers will be considered for publication in the conference proceedings, with an ISBN Index.
