1,500 museums nationwide are giving back to military families this summer.
They're offering free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
The Sam Noble Museum and Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art in Norman are also taking part.
The effort is a collaboration with the National Endowment of the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense.
"We're happy to participate in Blue Star Museums program again this year," says Sam Noble Museum Director, Dr. Michael Mares. "It's an opportunity for our museums to connect with our nation's service members and their families and share our exceptional exhibits, programs and events."
The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is located on the OU Norman campus at Timberdell Road and Chautauqua Avenue. Accommodations on the basis of disability are available by calling (405) 325-4712 or at www.snomnh.ou.edu.
The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art is located at Elm Avenue and Boyd Street. Additional information is available by calling (405) 325-3272 or on the Web at www.ou.edu/fjjma.
Regular admission to both museums is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors 65 and up, and $3 for youth ages 6 to 17. Children ages 5 and under are admitted free.
Visit the museums during their summer exhibit season and experience Chinasaurs, huge and exotic dinosaurs from China at the Sam Noble Museum from June 2 through September 16 and exhibitions of animation cels from The Walt Disney Studio, as well as Frankoma Pottery and more at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art through Sept. 2.
