The thematic exhibition titled “The great friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos” was launched at the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) on the morning of July 18, 2022 to mark the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the bilateral Treaty of Amity and Cooperation between Vietnam and Laos (July 18, 1977 - 2022). It held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Office of the Party Central Committee

Participants of the opening ceremony included comrade Bunthong Chitmany - Poliburo member, Permanent member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee's Secretariat and Vice President of the Lao Peple’s Democratic Republic; comrade Sinlavong Khutphaythoun - Politburo member and President of the Lao Front for National Construction Central Committee; comrade Sounthon Xayachak - Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee and Vice President of the Lao National Assembly. The exhibition introduces nearly 500 documents, photos and objects expressing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, which was formed in the two countries’s causes of national construction and protection. The exhibition area consits of three parts:
The first part: Introduction of the history of the Vietnam - Laos relationship.
The second part: the establishment of diplomatic relations and the tightening of the combat alliance between the two countries during 1962 - 1977.
The third part: the promotion of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation in the process of national construction and development in the two countries from 1977 to 2022

In the speech at the opening ceremony, comrade Le Minh Hung emphasized: “The exhibition spotlights the great achievements and roles of the great friendship and special solidarity between the two peoples in the revolutionary process of each country, focusing on historical turning points, important events and achievements in the process of fighting for national independence, construction and development of the two countries.
The exhibition also clarifies the factors that formed and developed the great friendship relationship, special solidarity, the combat alliance between Vietnam - Laos through generations. At the same time, the exhibtion demonstrates the consistent spirit of the two Parties and States in the struggle for national independence, renewal and socialist-oriented national construction on the principles of respect for each other’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, equality and mutual benefit.
The exhibition also conveys a message that General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong once expressed: “We are proud of the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos that is constantly developing. It has become an important factor to ensure the revolutionary victory of each country, and an invaluable common property of the two peoples that should be protected and expanded by the next generations”.

The exhibition is an opportunity for domestic and international visitors to understand more deeply the relationship between Vietnam and Laos, thereby actively raising the awareness of protecting and expanding this precious relationship in the international integration context.
The exhibition lasts until October 18, 2022.
