On the afternoon of November 5, 2021, the delegation of French School of the Far East (EFEO), headed by Dr. Philippe Le Failler - Chief Representative of EFEO in Hanoi had a meeting with Dr. Nguyen Van Doan - Director of the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) and professional staff of Library and Documentation Department.

At the meeting, the two sides reported on the results of cooperation activities during the 5-year period (2016 - 2020) and discussed about the cooperation plans in the period of 2021 - 2025.

The VNMH has effectively cooperated with EFEO in many programs of researching and preservating of cultural heritage, organizing exhibitions, especially publishing French scholars’ works on Vietnamese history and culture.

The VNMH highly appreciates the cooperation of experts from EFEO in joint projects as well as contributions to the Museum's professional activities.

In addition to exchanging content of the framework agreement in the period 2021-2025, the two sides also proposed specific ideas and plans for activities towards special events celebrating the 90th anniversary of Louis Finot Museum’s establishment (1932 - 2022), (now the VNMH) and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations establishment between Vietnam and France (1973 - 2023).

The VNMH wishes to cooperate in researching and collecting documents related to the Louis Finot Museum in order to organize an exhibition introducing the process of Museum’s establishment and development.

The Museum pays special attention to the exchange and publication of valuable documents. In 2022, the two sides will jointly publish the work L'art Du Champa (Ancien Annam) Et Son Evolution (by Philippe.Stern) into Vietnamese language.

Dr. Philippe Le Failler expressed his desire to carry out a research project on archeological documents and objects of foreign scholars studying Vietnamese history and culture.

EFEO is honored to act as a cultural bridge between VNMH and the other organizations in Paris and French Embassy in upcoming projects.

It is hoped that the cooperation plans in the coming time will further promote the relationship between the two parties, and at the same time contribute to expanding research cooperation between VNMH and French researchers.

From 18 May 2019, the exhibition “Treasures of the Red River. Archaeological Collections from the Museums of Vietnam” will be running in the Winter Palace’s Halls of the History of Ancient Writings. It is being timed to mark Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and the days of the city named in his honour.

On the afternoon of November 4, 2021, Dr. Nguyen Van Doan - Director of the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) hosts a reception for the delegation of Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, headed by Mr. Furudate Seiki - the First Secretary of Japanese Embassy in Vietnam. Participants of the meeting also included Mr. Shimizu Koji - Representative of the JICA Vietnam Office, senior and professional officials of the Parties.
