On the morning of February 25, 2021, Dr. Nguyen Van Doan – Director of the Vietnam National Museum of History host a reception for the delegation of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Hanoi, headed by Mr. Subash Prasad - the Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India in Vietnam and Dr. GH. Harisha - Director of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Mr. Subash Prasad emphasized the long-standing and traditional friendship of the two countries, that nurtured and continuously developed by generations of leaders of Vietnam and India. In particular, the relationship between the two countries has been associated with the Buddhist linkages from India to Vietnam. The two governments have committed to implementing many projects to preserve and develop Buddhist cultural heritages. Thereby, he showed the importance of Buddhist cultural heritage and expressed a desire to cooperate with the Vietnam National Museum of History in research projects related to Buddhism as well as to co-publish publications of Vietnam - India civilizations.

For his part, Dr. Nguyen Van Doan expressed his deepest appreciation to Mr. Subash Prasad and Dr. Harisha, as well as expressed his agreement with the proposals from the Indian side. With valuable document resources and a rich collection of Buddhist objects currently housed in the Vietnam National Museum of History, Mr. Doan would like to expand cooperation with foreign partners, particularly with India – the cradle of Buddhism, to delve deeper into the subject of Buddhism. Besides, based on the results of archaeological surveys and excavations in northern and central Vietnam, the Vietnam National Museum of History, in coordinate with the Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam, is holding a conference on the above topic towards the end of 2021. The Vietnam National Museum of History is looking forward to receiving support and participation from the Indian side.

The meeting took place in a very constructive, open atmosphere and initially achieved positive results. The two sides agreed to work together to honor the values of both countries’ cultural heritages.
