On the 25th anniversary of the Hue Monuments Complex being recognized as the World Cultural Heritage, and the 15th anniversary of Vietnamese Court music - Nha nhac (Nguyen dynasty) being recognised as a Representative of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, VNMH in collaboration with the Hue Monuments Conservation Center organized a special exhibition "The Dragon-Phoenix on Treasures of the Nguyen Dynasty”
Over the history of nearly 400 years (1558 - 1945), the Nguyen kings and the Nguyen dynasty left a rich cultural heritage, including tangible and intangible cultural heritages. The selected collection for this exhibition was a particularly important part of this monumental heritage.
Over 80 artifacts were carefully selected among 2,500 Nguyen dynasty treasures currently stored at VNMH. These are the objects decorated with dragons, phoenix - symbol of the power and desire for prosperity, happiness, etc. These treasures are made of rare materials bearing royal characters of the king and the palace: gold, silver, precious stones, ivory, tortoise, diamonds, crystal, etc. The Exhibition introduces this special collection by type and decoration divided into the following groups:
- Collection symbolizing the power
- Collection of gold decree
- Collection of crown, jewelry
- Collection of worship and ceremonial objects
- Collection of living items
- Collection of bonus items
The exhibition opened on September 7, 2018, at Long An Palace (Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities - 03 Le Truc, Hue City) and will end on December 7, 2018.
Along with this exhibition, a catalogue: “The Dragon-Phoenix on Treasures of the Nguyen Dynasty” was released on the opening day.
