On the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Lang Son Museum (June 24, 1993 - June 24, 2018), the Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) in cooperation with the Lang Son Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a special exhibition entitled "Sparkling – Lacquered and Gilded Wood Objects in Vietnam" at the Lang Son Provincial Museum. This exhibition introduces nearly 100 objects stored at the VNMH to help the public understand and appreciate the values of history, culture, art and the meanings of lacquered and gilded wood objects in Vietnamese life. Since then, it will contribute to raising awareness about the conservation, preservation and promotion of traditional cultural heritage of the nation.

Attending the opening ceremony and cutting the opening band were Mr. Phung Minh Cuong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Phung Huy Can - Director of Emulation and Reward Department; Mr. Pham Dinh Phong - Deputy Director of Cultural Heritage Department; Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong - Director of the VNMH and the representatives of leaders of Lang Son Province, Lang Son Department of Culture and nearby museums and monuments. The central and provincial press agencies attended and reported about this exhibition.

The exhibition "Sparkling – Lacquered and Gilded Wood Objects in Vietnam" is presented in display cabinets as groups of objects related to each worship space, type, form and function.
- Buddhist objects: For thousands of years, lacquered and gilded wood is an ancient traditional handicraft that has an important place in the art of Buddhist sculpture in Vietnam. The center of this exhibition will introduce Buddhist objects including statue of the Buddha of the Three Times, the statue of the Guanyin, the statue of infant Budha Shakyamuni, the statue of Bodhidrama; statues of merited people; incense-table, altar, the horizontal lacquered board with the appropriate content.
- Collection of God worship: incense-table, shrine, ancestral tablet, decree box, pot, vase, worshipping weapons and the horizontal lacquered board with the appropriate content.
- Collection of ancestors worship: Incense-table, shrine, decree box, pot, vase, and the horizontal lacquered board with the appropriate content.
- Other objects: Small-sized objects suitable for display cabinets: worshipping vessels, wooden bell, statues of Nghê, worshipping sword, terra-cotta seat, boxes, partition, etc.
An exhibition corner
In addition, this exhibition also introduces some pictures of the stages of the two traditional handicrafts which are industries of making thin goldleaf and of making the lacquered and gilded wood.
The exhibition is open to the public from 22 June 2018 to 22 August 2018.
