At the invitation of the Director of the VNMH, on 30th of May 2018, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany in Vietnam, Mr. Christian Berger and the delegation of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Hanoi visited and worked at the VNMH.

Receiving and working on the side of VNMH was Dr. Nguyen Van Doan - Deputy Director of management and professional staff: Department of Exhibitions, Department of Artifact Management, Department of Research and Collecting, and International Cooperation Department.

In recent years, the Embassy of Germany has been a bridge to support the VNMH in many professional training programs as well as exhibition projects. Especially the exhibition "Treasures of Vietnam’s Archaeology" which was on display in Germany from October, 2016 to February, 2018 with the cooperation of many agencies and museums in Vietnam as well as in Germany. To promote the success of this exhibition, nearly 300 archaeological artifacts have been selected to continue to exhibit at the VNMH.

At the meeting, on behalf of the VNMH’s leadership, Dr. Nguyen Doan expressed his sincere thanks to Mr. Christian Berger and the staff of the Embassy of Germany and hoped that in the future, they would continue to be the bridge and support for cooperation programs between the VNMH and other cultural agencies and museums to promote the strategic cooperation between Vietnam and Germany.

From 18 May 2019, the exhibition “Treasures of the Red River. Archaeological Collections from the Museums of Vietnam” will be running in the Winter Palace’s Halls of the History of Ancient Writings. It is being timed to mark Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and the days of the city named in his honour.
